The original “federation style” building is believed to have been built in the 1920s. Later additions were added to convert it into a doctorʼs residence and surgery where residents from the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region remember being treated. The building also included an “art deco” style ballroom where social evenings were held. At this time, the house was considered “one of the best in Boulder”.
The building was converted into the original “Wyworrie Guest House” where new arrivals to Kalgoorlie-Boulder found lodgings. However, the building fell into disrepair for many years before being bought in 2006 by the present owners and completely renovated to its former glory.
The new owners were careful to retain the best features of the old building – original federation style archway and front door, the art deco windows, high colonial ceilings, fireplaces, polished Baltic pine and Jarrah floors while providing modern kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. The present decor tastefully blends former period aspects with modern comfort.
Wyworrie Guest House contains a manager’s residence and two air conditioned wings, each containing comfortable lounge and dining areas, kitchen, bathrooms, and courtyard. A laundry is available for guests to use.
